“An Odd Ceiling Angle”

When redesigning a master bath for a client, we were confronted with an odd ceiling angle. The client suggested we hide it, but we decided to embrace that angle and make it a part of the design. We nestled a stand-alone tub under it, creating a cozy space to rest and relax. Since the tub area was not that large, and we wanted to make sure the tub was as large as we could make it, we selected an Acrylic tub from Fluerco that offers a deck mount tub faucet.  The Fleurco Acrylic Waltz Grande Freestanding Tub is 67”long x31”wide and gave us the room we needed to fit the tub and tub filler into the pre-determined space.
We grounded the entire new master bathroom with a black herringbone tile floor. This new floor truly makes the floor a stunning, design element. And we paired the new floor with white subway tile walls and warm wood accents.
At one end of the tub, we created a floating wood shelves wall out of rift cut white oak that also anchors the space. We also used that wood as a frame around the vanity mirror, tying the two areas together.
The shower is clad with a crisp, clean lined white subway tile, that offers a soothing balance to the black herringbone shower floor, and main floor. To carry the black herringbone into the shower, we incorporated a linear shower drain, so that it did not detract from the stunning herringbone pattern.
The result is a spa-like retreat for the homeowner to relax and unwind after a busy day.
